ORION FORUM

On behalf of the International Star Riders Association, the Orion Riders Constellation of ISRA invites you to join us in Harrisonburg, Virginia for the 2006 ISRA East Coast Blue Ridge Cruise-in.

This fun-filled event will begin on Thursday, July 20th and run through Sunday, July 23rd.  The host hotel is the Hampton Inn, along with the Sleep Inn (right next door). Plus, there  are a number of other motels and hotels in close proximity for those of you making late reservations.  For the more adventurous, there are other types of alternative lodging and camping choices in the area as well.

If spending four days on your motorcycle seems a little too much, the area offers a wide range of activities including Civil War history, exploring caverns, hiking, and geocaching.

This is the first Cruise-In east of the Mississippi and we plan to make it a memorable event! As an ISRA sponsored rally, the primary line of motorcycles present will be the Yamaha Star line, but the Cruise-In is definitely NOT limited to Yamaha riders. We look forward to and expect to see all the other brands of motorcycles as well.

Come experience the beauty of the Blue Ridge mountains. Every ride will provide breath-taking views.  Around every turn and every bend there is a new adventure with like-minded motorcyclists like you.

Harrisonburg is centrally located on the Atlantic coast, 800 miles from Orlando, FL, 800 miles from Bangor, Me, and 750 miles from St. Louis, MO. For those in between, remember that the journey is as important as the destination and make the trip an adventure. For the brave of heart, it's "only" 2600 miles from L.A.

REGISTER!!!      (Back to  Cruise-In Home)

Come join us and ride the beautiful mountain roads, enjoy the camaraderie , and just have fun. There will be vendors on hand showing off their bikes and parts, including BobStar Customs, S & S Cycles and Cycle Foray. Check out their wares and pick their brains a little.

Also planned are poker runs, group & self-guided rides (with maps so you can find your way back to the fun), bike rodeo, bike wash, show and shine, awards banquet and a whole lot of fun and fellowship!!

RIDE MAPS  (Maps plus Directions)    (Back to  Cruise-In Home)

(((  Not Final, May Be Revised!! )))

Blue Ridge Parkway

Many of you may want to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway, but . . .The closest way is to take US-33 East to the top of the mountain and then enter the Shenandoah National Park - Skyline Drive - which costs $15 for a 1-7 day pass (no one day passes!). To miss this "ka-ching" you will need to head East on US-33 to Elkins, turn right to go south on US-340 to Waynesboro, hang a left to go East on US-250 to the top of the mountain to the beginning of the Blue Ridge Parkway (free) and then end of the Skyline Drive (and the ka-ching). It is about 45-50 miles (one-way) to avoid the ka-ching) - your choice.

Countryside Ramble - 60 Miles, 1.75 hours

Beautiful country ride - all skill levels - 50% single file, narrow, yet safe roads

- a fair number of curves (no twisties) and a rolling up-down route.

 - pastoral, with mountain views

Goshen Falls Loop - 137 Miles, 3.25 Hours

Nice countryside ride, with mountain views, some curvy sections,

 - combo of flat and up-down, suitable for all riders, side diversion for GAS (and eats if wanted)

 - nice pull-off above the Goshen Falls Rapids - caution on return to highway.

Sperryville - 2 Mountains - 120 Miles, 2.5 hours

This loop will take you up and then back down both sides of two mountains, with some scenic countryside riding in between. Can be safely ridden by all levels of rider, but it is suggested that groups be broken up into "more-expert" and "less-expert" and that both groups take caution especially on the downhill sides, and always ride your own ride.

Sperryville - 3 Mountains - 120 Miles, 2.75 hours

This loop will take you up and then back down both sides of three mountains, with some scenic countryside riding in between. Can be safely ridden by all levels of rider, but it is suggested that groups be broken up into "more-expert" and "less-expert" and that both groups take caution especially on the downhill sides, and always ride your own ride.

Seneca Rocks Run - 135 Miles, 2.75 hours - - Lotsa Twisties - Caution

This is the real twisties, recommended for experienced riders only (else go real slow)

- if not experienced pick one of the Sperryville rides for your twisties

- if not expert but want tough route, pick this one (not Elkins) and take time to go slow.

- starts ho-hum, but then gets twisty

Elkins Loop - 220 Miles, Nearly 5 hours - Longest Ride - Lotsa Twisties - Caution

This is the real twisties, recommended for experienced riders only (else go real slow)

- if not experienced pick one of the Sperryville rides for your twisties.

- or the Seneca Rocks run, if you must have real Twisties - run on a slow group

- starts ho-hum, but then gets twisty

Poker Run (Early's Yamaha as Last Stop Before Ending at Hotel)

Poker Run (Early's Yamaha as First Stop On Run - Closes at 3:30 on Saturday)
